SUMMERHILL WI president Marlene opened the November meeting with a warm welcome and introduced Maureen Davies who had come to Amroth Parish Hall to give an interesting talk about textile jewellery.
Maureen, whose creative journey got started at Denman College, had brought along a variety of brooches, pendants and bracelets made using such diverse craft mediums as metal, glass beads, felt, and even a type of stiffener used in curtain pelmets.
Hilary thanked Maureen, then refreshments were served by Linnia, Jo and Sue. She then chose the Motto for the 2026 programme “Live well, Laugh Together, Learn Forever” - thanks go to Dawn for that. Belinda was the lucky winner.
The meeting resumed with birthday greetings to Marilyn as well as get well wishes to Margaret J and Margaret L. Upcoming events were discussed, including the Christmas Dinner at The New Inn, Amroth on Wednesday November 26.
The Federation Letter was discussed and items noted and with no further business the 2025 AGM took place. The positions for 2026 will see Marlene Davies remain as president, Marilyn Davies and Sue Evans as vice presidents, Linda Brown as secretary and Sue Cale as treasurer. With no-one new wishing to join the committee, last year’s members agreed to remain in place.
The next meeting will be a festive chip supper on Monday December 8 at 7pm in the hall at Summerhill with the committee acting as hostesses.
