MARCH brought sunshine and clear skies each Saturday to the Steps2Health walking group as they explored the Pembrokeshire Coast, taking in Wiseman’s Bridge, Saundersfoot, Tenby, Stackpole and Bosherston.

Paul Morris writes: “The weather was wonderful for our first walk on the 7th, a really nice spring morning. 30 cheery walkers gathered at Regency Hall ready for a walk along the Coast Path. Barbara backed by Brian, led the Speedies to Wiseman’s Bridge and up the hill towards Grove Colliery. The banks of snowdrops and primroses were magnificent in the woodland alongside the Dramway. Annie, supported by Chris, led the Steadies along the same route as far as the Dramway, but turned around after 10 minutes. Everyone ended back in Saundersfoot, where they were spoiled for choice with so many cafes and restaurants to choose between. A marvellous morning out, for everyone who turned out.

“The following Saturday the weather was outstanding early on, with a clear sky and bright sunshine. 41 eager members turned out to take full advantage of the weather. Brian, supported by Jane, led the Steadies round the town and up to Allen’s View. Annie, backed by Chris and Barbara, followed the same route, but turned right, when they reached to Croft. The slowest walkers were caught by a short, but ferocious, hail shower, that came barrelling through like an express train. They headed for Church House and the fund-raising coffee morning being held there. Before long they were joined by the Speedies, so the queue at the cake table was soon very long indeed. Chair Jane took the opportunity to present founder member Phil with his Honorary Member certificate, marking his long membership and continuing support of the club.

“On Saturday 21st the weather was glorious for a trip to Stackpole Estate, with more clear sky and sunshine. 32 members turned out for this old favourite walk. Jane, backed by Brian, led the Speedies on a counter-clockwise loop around the ponds, with a foray as far as the Eight Arch Bridge. Annie, supported by Kym, led the Speedies down the right hand side of the ponds, then returned the same way. Auntie Vi’s Olde World Cafe is now Bosherston Bistro, but St Govan’s Inn hasn’t changed, so everyone found refreshments at one or the other. As ever, a good time was had by one and all.

“The last club walk of the month brought a beautiful sunny morning albeit with an unseasonably cold feel. Jane and Annie led the Steadies on an easy walk around Kiln Park. Kym and Brian also took the Speedies through Kiln Park, heading for the Ritec marshes, but never got there. One of our members took a bad tumble. We offer our thanks to the Kiln Park First Aiders and the visiting First Responder for their invaluable help.”
