ST ISSELL’S WI made summer arrangements for a cake stall on Saundersfoot Harbour and a trip to Picton Castle before enjoying a a strawberry and cream tea together at their July meeting.
The ladies of St Issell’s WI were welcomed by President, Diane Rigden, who thanked Mary Howells for the flowers for the top table, and extended birthday wishes to Julia King-Thomas, Jacquie Cowgill and Anne Leech. There was also a welcome to visitors Sandra and Anne.
After reading the Minutes of the June meeting, Diane confirmed that everything was in hand with regard to the train at Coppet Hall. Final arrangements were made for the trip to Picton Castle for the September meeting; the coach will be leaving the arcade in Saundersfoot at 10.15am, with a second pick up at Kilgetty at 10.30am. Twenty-seven ladies have said they hope to attend.
It is hoped to have a cake stall on the harbour on August 17 at one of the Rotary Club’s pig roasts, and ladies were asked to indicate if they could make a cake and, where possible, what it might be. Cakes can be dropped off with Diane, Anne Leech or Bev Bennett.
A letter had been received from Saundersfoot in Bloom inviting the WI to have an arrangement at the flower festival in August, and Liz Talboys volunteered to do the arrangement.
The ladies were handed a questionnaire to ascertain what they would like in next year’s programme. They then enjoyed a strawberry and cream tea, with delicious scones and shortbread biscuits.
A quiz for groups was circulated, which will be judged by the RNLI in October. A game of ball bingo resulted in much laughter, the winner being Jane Lee. The Committee ladies were thanked for arranging such an enjoyable meeting.
Mary Lawrence was this month’s competition winner was, and Sue Haines won first prize in the raffle. Diane wished ladies a happy summer break, looking forward to the trip in September.
