ON October 27, when plans had been made to celebrate a milestone birthday for Penally Bridge Club’s popular director, Alan, the club was obliged to decamp to alternative premises due to a water leak outside the Village Hall.

After a monumental effort by Alan’s ‘little helpers’, four and a half tables were able to enjoy an afternoon of Bridge, albeit in rather smaller premises.

Clear winners were Dave & Nicky with 70.37%, followed by John & Jill with 65.74%. Third were Paul B. & Stuart with 62.96. It was good to see almost a full turn-out of regular players keen to express their appreciation of the effort put in by Alan on a regular basis to keep the Club thriving.

By the time this report is published, today’s problems will be a distant memory and the club should be back to the Village Hall each Monday afternoon as normal for the foreseeable future. Visitors are always welcome and Brenda is available for queries about the Club on 01834 812132.
