A FANTASTIC evening of Junior chess was held at Kensington Court, Milford Haven on November 18 when the junior sections of Pembrokeshire Chess Club Juniors and White Knights Llanelli - 16 children including three girls - played three timed half-hour games.
A big thank you goes to Jason Garcia, all the players and all the parents for travelling down to play.
The teams were evenly matched and the majority of the games could have gone either way. The players of both teams were declared winners! Everyone enjoyed themselves making new friends and learning from their experiences.
The Pembrokeshire parents who provided refreshments did a good job of keeping energy levels high while the games were being played.
Young Henry Burton played Jason and benefited from the coaching after the game. Henry entered the West Wales Open over the weekend; his first Open and came away with an impressive 2.5/5 points haul.
The club looks forward to travelling to Llanelli for the return leg early in the New Year.
