Little Milford, The Tudor Merchants House in Tenby and Southwood near Newgale, are the local National Trust locations just announced as this year’s beneficiaries of funding raised by the Pembrokeshire National Trust Association.
“Thanks to our local Association members for raising £3,000 through our events and activities”, explained Chairman Jane Mason, “all Pembrokeshire residents will benefit.”
There will be replacement hurdles installed in the garden at the Tudor Merchant’s house, as well as footpath improvements in the National Trust Little Milford woods and bench and footpath improvements on the Southwood Estate.
The National Trust’s North Pembrokeshire Lead Ranger Alys Chapman explained the use of the funds at Southwood:
“Thanks to the very generous donation from PNTA, we are planning some improvements to the Southwood footpath network. We’ve known for a little while that one of the things we are lacking on the Estate is any short walking routes.
“To try and rectify this, we are planning to install two new sections of path, both about 0.5 km in length. Using these to link up with existing routes around the Estate will create two new loops, roughly 1.1 km and 2 km in length – or longer, should you wish.
“We are hoping this will make our little corner of Pembrokeshire more accessible and encourage more people to come and enjoy Southwood. We aim to have this up and running by Spring 2026.”
The Pembrokeshire National Trust Association has over 230 members from all around the County, who do not have to be National Trust members to join the Association. The programme of monthly winter talks has now begun and November’s talk takes place on November 6 at the Crundale Village Hall, Haverfordwest at 2.30pm.
