Pembroke Dock Town Council will buy water butts for six new allotments in Pennar, it was agreed at the July meeting.
Councillors approved the purchase of six 250-litre water butts for £500, despite a little questioning about the price.
Councillor O’Connor pointed out that, although the butts could be pre-filled, there would need to be some way of allowing rainwater to collect and channel into them. The Town Clerk theorised that a single shed could be purchased for the six plots.
“It’s a new venture, so we’re trying to provide the best we can,” said the Town Clerk, adding that the allotments have been taken on from PCC and the Town Council has an obligation to keep up the standard.
