PEMBROKESHIRE Chess Club welcomed Milford Haven’s Mayor, Cllr William Elliott, to thank him for the Town Council grant that has enabled the purchase of additional Chess sets and clocks, vital for securing the club’s future.

Pembrokeshire Chess Club meets on a Tuesday night at Kensington Court in Steynton with junior coaching 6-7pm and seniors from 7pm. Always on the lookout for new members, the club is friendly and relaxed but also offers the chance to play league and competitive chess.

Alexis Harakis, a Fide master, is head coach and a role model for junior members. The juniors have come on really well with a number competing in Welsh competitions whilst others just enjoy the game. They have played games against Redhill school ,Carmarthen and Castell Nedd and are shortly going to play against White Knights from Llanelli.
