THERE really are still good people in this world - that’s what staff at George’s Fish & Chips of St Clears have been saying after receiving this note.

One night last week, a young boy came in and didn’t have quite enough money, so he was told not to worry and that the rest would be covered.

The next morning, this handwritten note and the exact money he owed was found pushed through the door.

On their Facebook page, the Carmarthenshire fast food restaurant expressed “a huge thank-you to the parent who took the time to drop the money off and teach their child such honesty and gratitude,” adding: “You’re doing an amazing job.”

Talking to George’s, a clear message came through: “A small independent business will always try to help the people who support them — they know their customers by name, they care about their community, and they’ll go the extra mile whenever they can.

“But walk into a big chain, and it’s a different story: no flexibility, no understanding, just policies and rules that make you put something back instead of helping you out.

“That’s why supporting small independent businesses matters. They’re the heart of our communities, and they survive because of people like you. Please choose local, choose independent — before it’s too late.”
