THIS summer, SPAN Arts is inviting people of all ages to discover Pembrokeshire in a new way through Writing the Wild – an inspiring county-wide poetry treasure hunt that encourages residents and visitors alike to slow down, connect with nature, and become part of a unique collaborative artwork.
Part of SPAN Arts' acclaimed Love Stories to Nature project, Writing the Wild is the second environmental commission in the series and has been created in partnership with The Narberth Poets. Throughout the summer, words and poetic prompts will be hidden in beautiful outdoor locations across Pembrokeshire, encouraging people to pause, observe the landscape, and respond with their own thoughts, lines, verses or poems.
The possibilities are as varied as the terrain, and you do not need to think of yourself as a ‘writer’ to get involved. Narberth Poets will gather the lines together and weave their magic to create a wild, communal poem in celebration of our county and its environmental treasures.
Throughout July and August, these poems will be placed in boxes at their locations with teasers, clues and what3words pins shared across social media. This will be your cue to go wild in response, using the pens and paper within the boxes.
The final collaborative poem will be revealed at an afternoon tea celebration at SPAN Arts on 30th September.
