KILGETTY WI welcomed Jess Bickerton (pictured) and Angie Mander from Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services to their February meeting.

Jess and Angie explained how PAVS supports a number of different types of groups in Pembrokeshire, including charities, support groups and other types of voluntary organisations.

Through PAVS, help can be provided to individuals throughout Pembrokeshire via ‘community connectors’ to enable people access information, activities and services.

Helen Knight thanked Jess and Angie for their very informative talk. The evening continued with refreshments and delicious home made cakes and cookies provided by Julia Mills and served by Monica Thomas and Penny Brace.

After socialising, the business meeting began with president Julia Mills thanking former committee member Nicole Bowles for all her hard work and presenting her with a lemon tree plus a card signed by the Wi members.

New committee member Jayne Shorten was warmly welcomed. Apologies were noted and February birthday wishes given to Shirley Cox and Margaret Roberts.

Sylvia Wright (treasurer) gave her monthly financial statement. Helen informed members of the exciting programme of monthly events ahead and Jayne informed members of arrangements for the annual day out planned for June and those wishing to attend were encouraged to sign up.

Members were reminded that book club meets on the third Tuesday and craft club meets on the fourth Tuesday each month.

Julia said a new shield had been purchased and will be presented to the overall competition winner at the Annual Meeting. Items in the federation newsletter were highlighted.

Nicole informed members of a request from Narberth swimming pool to raise funds for the upkeep and maintenance of the community run, award winning swimming pool and all the members voted to make a donation.

Penny Brace won the Valentine’s competition and Nicole was the lucky raffle winner.

The next meeting will take place at Kilgetty community centre on March 10, 7pm. New members are always welcome.
