Back for 2025 on Saturday, October 4 at Plas Hyfryd Hotel and the Queen’s Hall, Narberth’s West Wales Wool Show is a volunteer-run celebration of all things woolly.

The show is run by the Pembrokeshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers with support from PLANED. Wool is still undervalued as a renewable resource, but the West Wales Wool Show aims to bring this wonderful natural resource back into focus.

From beautifully hand crafted items, clothing and footwear to knitting wool, fleece and all the equipment needed to make at home, the show supports local wool producers and small craft businesses.

Demonstrations will run throughout the day with stall holders sharing their skills and knowledge with visitors.

This is a real community event, it’s now in its tenth year and is all run by volunteers from the Pembrokeshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers.

Bettina Becker said: “It’s very much about promoting woolly crafts and also helping local businesses. Best of all, it is free to all.

“Every year we have a really great selection of stalls selling hand dyed yarns, local wool for spinning, lots of equipment as well as showcasing what can be made from all this wonderful material. We will also have spinning and weaving demonstrations, and people can find out about workshops going on locally.”

With over 30 stall holders confirmed, there will be an opportunity to connect with wool producers, crafters and suppliers of equipment for all types of woolly creation.

Decorated with pop-ups, blankets and bags of roving, the National Woollen Museum (Amgueddfa Wlan Cymru) stand will feature a spinning wheel and a video of the site. Staff will also demonstrate wool hand processes.

Melin Tregwynt give life to wool by-products by blending with 50% Virgin British Lambswool & spinning into a beautiful woollen spun hand knit yarn - from their creative hands to yours.

Pembrokeshire Alpaca Trekking will be there, offering hand knitted hats, gloves, headbands, socks, scarves and more, knitted locally from 100 per cent Alpaca fleece from their Pembrokeshire herd.

And the Vegetarian Wool Company will be showcasing Vegetarian Society approved, slaughter free woollen products, ranging from raw fleeces through to yarns, fleece rugs & hand finished clothing.

With Welsh-made weaving looms, pickers, weaving frames, and accessories from Lili-Wen, spinning wheels and fibres from Ciliau Crafts, Susan Martin’s natural dyed textiles, hand-dyed yarns from Carmarthenshire’s Pure Welsh and equipment from Hembra Crafting and Hedgehog Equipment, the West Wales Wool Show is a must for crafters.

Browse the stalls for special gifts, clothing and unique household furnishings, including cushions, throws, blankets and rugs; shawls, scarves, knitted ladies’ children’s and babies’ wear; hat, gloves, scarves and accessories; wine sleeves, art prints, greeting cards; Hallowe’en decorations, and more.

“Watch out for the yarn bombing on the day,” Bettina said, and then added: “Some yellow sheep are going to be out and about in Narberth.”
