PRESIDENT Edith warmly welcomed 26 members and three visitors from Blood Bikes Wales to the February meeting of Carew WI.

After the singing of Jerusalem, birthday greetings were celebrated for Bronwen, Marilyn and Sue - who celebrates a special birthday soon.

The minutes read, signed and sanctioned and matters arising dealt with - the members moved onto perusing the County Letter.

Thoughts then turned to discussing the arrangements for the Summer trip and Bron K detailed the itinerary, costs and logisitics. A majority vote confirmed Bron’s proposal.

The meeting concluded with refreshments while the guests for the afternoon set up their presentation.

Riders from Blood Bike Wales volunteer daily to courier vital supplies, documents and information between our hospitals for patients. They operate an on call system and navigate daily the routes between the main NHS centres here in our corner of West Wales. Supplementing the already overstretched NHS, they provide this vital life saving service for their community.

Carew WI applauds them. A heartfelt vote of thanks expressed members’ appreciation. The ladies are in awe of them all for their unswerving dedication to this volunteer community service.
