DURING the week beginning August 4 in Pembroke, Dr Rob Dinnis and his team of archaeologists will be undertaking an exploratory dig in the cave that is tucked away under a cliff face within the Tabernacle Garden Through Time.

The garden is situated behind Tabernacle Church on Main Street Pembroke.

This exploratory dig follows the excitement created by finds within Wogan’s Cavern within Pembroke Castle. Analysis of these finds have led Dr Dinnis to conclude that this cave is one of international significance.

The team became aware of the garden site as an outlying cave in the same area, and it will be exciting to learn if the Tabernacle cave too leads to exciting discoveries.

On Thursday, August 7, at 2.30pm and again at 7pm at Tabernacle Church, Dr Rob Dinnis will be talking about the finds at Wogans cavern and also about the dig.

An elder of the church said: “We are thrilled and excited. Do join us at this real opportunity to find out more!”

Donations are requested of £5 (to church funds for roof repairs) and refreshments will be provided. There will be an opportunity to go down into the garden and also to see the newly established Victorian Schoolroom.
