Comedian and presenter Rhod Gilbert will be hosting a special one-off charity ‘Comedy Quiz’ in Saundersfoot this month.

The quiz night is being held on Sunday, September 10, at The Regency Hall, Saundersfoot.

Chris ‘Korkey’ Corchoran will be joining Rhod on hosting duties as his partner in crime.

“I’d like to think that we can come together and enjoy an evening of laughter, whilst raising money for charity,” said organiser and chairman of Saundersfoot Community Council, Clr. Anthony Mattick, who went to school with Rhod in the late ’80s.

“We are extremely lucky to have our hosts join us and I’m hoping it will be a night to remember.”

The quiz comes just days before Anthony and Rhod participate in the Velindre Cancer Hospital Fundraising trek to the lost city of Machu Picchu, Peru’s most famous Inca ruin.

This will be no ordinary feat, as Anthony has had to regain some form of fitness following a serious road collision in June 2012, when he was knocked from his pedal cycle whilst cycling home from work in Carmarthen.

The accident resulted in Anthony sustaining multiple fractures and internal bleeding which resulted in him being airlifted to Cardiff for lifesaving treatment.

It was at his hospital bedside that Rhod first made a pact that the two of them would go on a sponsored walk together, as Anthony, up to that point had been involved in a number of fundraising events, raising more than £75,000.

Since 2012, Rhod has become a patron for The Velindre Cancer Hospital based in Cardiff and been on several worldwide treks.

The quiz in Saundersfoot will be for teams of six people at a cost of £25 per person, with all the proceeds going to the quiz host’s nominated charity - The Velindre Cancer Trust, Cardiff - Wales’ leading cancer hospital.

Doors open at 7 pm prompt until late. Tickets are limited and sold on a first come first serve basis, so please reply as soon as possible.

If anyone would like to offer any form of sponsorship (to underwrite the hire of the hall; door staff; printing of tickets; auction and/or raffle prize/s) - then this would very much be appreciated.

You can contact Clr. Mattick via email at [email protected]

A note of thanks must go to Pembrokeshire Wealth Management and fisherman Gavin Davies who have already made kind donations.

If anyone would like to get in touch or make a personal donation, Anthony has a ‘Just Giving’ page (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Anthony-Mattick) running and any monies donated would very much be appreciated.
