Last Saturday morning dawned wet and windy which made the Tenby RNLI Fundraising Committee fear that the annual Christmas Coffee Morning was doomed to disaster, but we should have had more faith. The sun came out and so did the customers, and almost £400 was raised for funds.

Nicole, Liz and Julia were kept busy in the kitchen, and waitresses Sylvie, Barbara, Shan worked non-stop to ensure that everyone got their coffee in good time. Jayne and Jan sold out of cakes and Althea and Chris saw to it that everyone had a raffle ticket.

It was good to see so many visitors calling in and we are grateful to Chris and John Moore for putting the flags over the gate and railings, and to Terry Evans for his help in setting up. Young Imogen John did a great job with the ’Name the Penguin’ sales and was quite shocked when her Nan, President Shan won it!

Doreen ‘The Shop’, aided by Beth, also took over £120 on the cards and gifts, and Derek and Eirwen Cole and sister Monica impressed everyone with their fabulous Christmas decorations; their money raised will go to young grandson Rudi to enable him to have much needed physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions.

Extra special thanks go to Dennis Chiffi, a superb washer up, and to Lindy Wainwright, who not only brought some of her famous cheese scones, but also picked up a tea towel and helped in the kitchen.

All in all, it was a very happy, successful morning and we were delighted to welcome coxswain Phil John, brother, Robert and their families, always good supporters of the fundraisers. Thanks go to all the workers, those who donated prizes and all who supported in any way. If you missed it, and would still like RNLI Christmas cards and gifts, the shop will be open until December 23, so call in soon.
