A McColl’s convenience store in the heart of New Hedges has donated a fantastic £200 to New Hedges Village Hall for maintenance and effects.
The store raised the money through the Making a Difference locally charity, where customers purchase specific products in store and a percentage of the money goes into a virtual fund for the retailer and shopper to choose a local charity to donate to.
The Village Hall was chosen as the beneficiary as it plays an integral part in the local community.
Commenting on the money donated, James Lancaster, McColl’s Retail Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “It really is wonderful that we have raised and donated money for such a local and worthwhile cause. McColl’s has always known to be charitable and we try our best to continually support the neighbourhoods in which we operate.
“This donation is another great example of our helpful and giving ethos. We believe it is important to give something back to our customers who support us and help raise money by purchasing specific products in store.
“I hope our customers will continue to support the scheme and we cannot wait for our virtual funds to build up again and to donate to another local charity or good cause.”
McColl’s has a history of charitable giving and is best known for its huge fundraising efforts during the award winning ‘Treat Cardiac Risk in the Young this Halloween’ campaign which for two consecutive years has resulted in a donation in excess of £170,000.
