Historians specialising in Pembroke Dock's remarkable maritime heritage will be leading two special 'trail' walks in the town today (Friday).
The walks are part of the two-day 'Open Doors' event centred on the beautifully restored Dockyard Chapel - also known as the Garrison Chapel.
Ted Goddard will be leading 'The Navy Trail', spotlighting the town's long connections with the Royal Naval Dockyard from 1814 to 1926. And John Evans will be following 'The RAF Trail'.
The Navy Trail starts at 11 am from the Dockyard Chapel, with the RAF Trail commencing at 2 pm.
A small donation to the Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust is suggested for those joining the walks.
The chapel opening - from 10 am to 4 pm on both days - is part of the Civic Trust of Wales 'Open Doors' programme and is organised by the Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust. Inside the chapel will be a number of displays by the Trust and its volunteer teams, including models and dioramas. Archive items will include photographs from the 'Mansell Collection' which has become a special individual exhibit.
This Open Doors event has been generously sponsored by Valero Pembroke Refinery.
Further information is available from the Sunderland Trust's website http://www.sunderlandtrust.org.uk">www.sunderlandtrust.org.uk and from leaflets and posters.
