The Carten charity ride from Cardiff to Tenby will take place tomorrow (Saturday) after being postponed last month due to Storm Hannah hitting Wales.

The event was called off for the first time in 15 years, the Carten100 due to poor weather conditions, with the event organisers announcing that it was with a ‘very heavy heart’ that they had taken the difficult decision to postpone the ride, but made the decision as they could not guarantee the safety of those participating due to the forecast of high wind speeds and heavy rain.

Riders will set off from the Welsh capital in waves between 7 and 9 am, with the first finishers arriving in Tenby at around 4 pm.

Pembrokeshire County Council have announced a temporary road closure for the cycle ride to allow participants to enter the town centre in a traffic free environment.

High Street and Tudor Square will be closed from 1 pm to 8 pm on Saturday.

The alternative route for traffic will be via Crackwell Street which will be made two way under temporary traffic light control.

The one way order for both Bridge Street and Crackwell Street will be suspended for the duration of the closure to enable motorists to travel towards the harbour area and also to allow limited vehicular access to property with off road parking provision.

Access for vehicles will be under the direction of an event marshal or police officer.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.
