Sir,

We understand that the existing 30-minute parking spaces at the the Regency Car Park, Saundersfoot, are to be removed and incorporated in the car park as a whole.

This only works as long as it is well out of season, as the car park becomes totally full of visitors once the holiday season is underway and it will become impossible for local people who use the shopping and catering facilities at all times of the year, to find a space when they need a short time span in our village.

This, of course, includes not only the elderly and parents with toddlers and children, but also all of us who need access to the Regency Hall and Library - this includes school children for a limited time only.

It is a facility that ought to be available to all, as parking around the village is greatly restricted and we feel very strongly that our needs are being ignored, and our protests waived in preference of the car park owners increasing their income.

Very importantly, too, restricted parking of this type will also adversely affect the businesses who rely on local as well as tourist trade. Many spaces will be taken up by long-stay parking for visitors using the beach facilities. Obviously this will curtail the number of spaces available for the 30-minute ‘shopping’ style user. These are the clients who use this facility in order to patronise the local shops and cafés.

We therefore wish to make a strong representation that the existing allocation of the 30-minute no charge spaces be retained for the good of the community, both commercial and personal.

Little & Large Lite Bites,
