Sir,

As a resident of Heywood Court, I feel strongly to write to this journal to express my concern at the possibility of losing the play park. As a child, myself and my friends would spend hours and hours playing on the giant slide and the swings, and many a time our parents would have to drag us home as we were enjoying the facilities so much.

A proposal has now come forward to upgrade the area with new equipment, but again the issue of cost has raised its head. The argument is where are we going to find the money?

Well guess what? We’ve already found it. I read every now and then about the number of people that have second homes that don’t contribute to our economy enough, but now they have. With their rates now with a 50 per cent increase, all that play park money will soon be sloshing around. Heywood Court, Leach Way, The Glebe, Newell Hill, and wherever they could have new swings and slides. In fact, with that amount of second homes in Tenby, Augustus Place could have some swings as well!

The idea of a car park being put in place of a safe play area in Heywood Court, I hope will never happen. Why? Health and safety. There are around 30 children of that playing age around the vicinity, and what with the parking situation already at a critical level, anymore cars would make it a dangerous recipe.

Lance Russell,

Tenby.
