On Wednesday, January 22, the monthly PAVS walk took us around the busy but beautiful harbour of Saundersfoot. The number of walkers and helpers are increasing, which proves the popularity of this outdoor venture. The January weather was cold, so we didn’t stand around, but kept moving at a leisurely pace, taking in all the sights of a developing and still working harbour.

The tide was out, so most of the pleasure boats were on dry land storage and it gave an interesting view of the sand/mud and stream of the mooring area.

Having viewed the village from the far sea wall, we then watched the seagulls cleverly picking up shellfish, dropping them from heights onto the concrete walkways and then enjoying their ‘catch’.  An intriguing sight - when did they learn to do that?

We made our way around the harbour and saw at firsthand the building of a magnificent new harbour taking place. We walked through the Sensory Garden and admired its layout, before retiring to the warmth and friendly welcome of the Regency Hall.

All agreed it was a wonderful and worthwhile trip and may do it again on Wednesday, February 26.

The walk is a jointly run mobility walk. PAVS Community Connectors, PACTO and the National Parks Walkability Officer set the walks up and volunteers from Saundersfoot Rotary Club and Saundersfoot Strollers are wonderful helpers.

Saundersfoot Rotary Club are pleased and happy to support this PAVS initiative.

Interesting Job Talk By Local Rotarian

At a recent dinner meeting, club member John Walker-Smith gave a very entertaining and informative job talk to all of those present.

John has only moved to Pembrokeshire in the last few years having lived and worked in the Midlands for most of his adult life.

There he set up and ran a very successful kitchen fitting business dealing with top quality German products that appealed to the many celebrity clients that he dealt with.

Without naming names of course he regaled many funny stories about his time in the kitchen business.

John was also a very active member of a Rotary Club in the Gloucester area before his move, with his wife Mandy, to Pembrokeshire

They have made their home in Saundersfoot and John joined Saundersfoot Club in 2019 and has been very active supporting many of the various events that the club is involved with.

The photograph top right shows John (centre) being thanked for his informative talk by club president Brian and speaker secretary Peter Williams.
