The Welsh Blood Service have thanked members of the public for attending recent donor sessions in Tenby.
Donor sessions are currently taking place across Pembrokeshire, and earlier this month a blood donation hub was set up in Tenby Leisure Centre.
“The response was amazing, with over 300 donors attending over the four days which resulted in 272 donations made,” said Donna Davies, donor engagement co-ordinator for the area.
“We also had a fantastic 48 first time donors.
“19 donors also signed up to the Wales Bone Marrow Donor Registry.
“The donations we receoved have potentially saved the lives of 816 people or 1,632 new-born babies in Wales.
“Being able to maintain the blood supply for our hospitals means patients in Wales can continue to receive the lifesaving transfusions they need.
“I can’t thank everyone enough for all their support, it really does make a difference,” she added.
The Welsh Blood Service have had to change the way it collects blood during the pandemic as most of the regular venues for sessions have been closed or were not deemed suitable for social distancing requirements, therefore several regional donation hubs have been set up around Wales.
Sessions have also taken place at the Queens Hall in Narberth, with further sessions due to take place across Pembrokeshire this month at Haverfordwest Rugby Club on June 22, 23, 25 and 26; and at the Pill Social Club in Milford Haven on June 29.
