This week’s Blast takes a look back at fundraising members of Tenby’s Ladies’ Circle.

The photo was taken back in 1996 when Ruth Goldwait was chairman, and Tenby’s nominated charity was the Paediatric Cardiac Unit at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

This charity was proposed by Tenby Circle and was chosen from the five nominations as the 1996 Area Project.

“This is a reminder of a wonderful time when Tenby’s Ladies’ Circle was thriving and we were very busy raising funds for charity,” said Ruth Webb who sent in the pic.

“Ruth Goldwait was a wonderful Chairman and organised us into an efficient and effective unit - holding two fundraising events each month such as - car boot sales, an auction of promises, quizzes, fashion show, cake stall, and a show at the De Valence etc.

“With the aid of other Circles we raised well over £20,000 for the PCU.

“Unfortunately, Ladies Circle no longer exists in Tenby, sadly, it met its demise about 4 to 5 years ago.

“We had a superb time and lived up to Circle’s motto of Friendship and Service,” added Ruth.
