Sir, May I add my name to the concern over banks abandoning local communities.
The final straw for me was the removal of the cash machine in St. Clears.
I have accepted driving six miles to St. Clears to use the machine, part of the penalty of being rural, but now having to drive 15 miles to Carmarthen with its parking problems and increasing the pollution on the roads is really too much.
Profit seems to be God now, with the public in rural areas ignored. ‘Beeching’ all over again!
It sadly seems that our local MP has done little to prevent closures, with the Government not interested either as it does not affect them.
This is particularly irksome for elderly people of which there are many here. At the age of 86, I am still fortunate enough to drive, but the time will come!
Can I ask all banks, not just Nat West, to seriously consider their future plans and start servicing their customers again - even if it means a penny or two off their share price.
