A beautician from Monkton has been disqualified from driving for two years after pleading guilty to a drink-driving charge,
Twenty-seven-year-old Abigail Amanda Roberts, of Ramsden Court, appeared before District Judge Vivian Manning-Davies at Haverfordwest court on Tuesday, charged with driving her Vauxhall Corsa on South Road in Pembroke, while over the limit, having 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - nearly three times the legal limit.
Police were contacted shortly after 11.30 pm on Wednesday, August 29, after it was reported that Ms Roberts had driven her vehicle into a parked car and then reversed away hap-hazardly.
Officers breathalysed the defendant at her home and she was found to be over the limit and was arrested.
A probation report presented to the judge, explained that Ms Roberts had gone into Pembroke with a friend on a pub crawl and had consumed 10 vodkas with blackcurrant and lemonade and one shot,
She was offered a lift home later by a member of bar staff at one pub, but elected to walk instead, but when she went by her car, she foolishly decided to drive home as she thought she felt OK to drive.
She admitted in the report that she couldn't remember the incident where she pranged her car or even going to bed.
Ms. Roberts, a qualified beautician with her own mobile business, admitted that her actions had been very worrying and that she realised that she was lucky that the consequences of her actions hadn't led to a more serious incident.
She had recently split up from her boyfriend and her mother had suffered a heart attack, which had led to her being stressed out, and although she didn't have a drink problem as such, she had still sought advice from drug and alcohol advisory service Prism.
Judge Manning-Davies said that he found this a disturbing case and he was alarmed that someone would think that they were fit enough to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after consuming 10 vodkas.
The defendant was given a community order of 150 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 in costs. She was also disqualified from driving for two years.
