Visitors to Broadhaven south enjoyed a free beach party at the National Trust at Stackpole. Staff and volunteers held a fun day with lots of activities, including beach volley ball, rounders and other games and activities.

The party was attended by visitors who were holidaying on the estate and those staying in the Stackpole Outdoor Learning Centre accommodation, as well as general visitors to the beach.

Party goers could take part in some of the activities that are on the Trust list of '50 things to do before you are 11 and a half', a campaign designed to get children out and about and closer to nature. Participants could also enter a free draw to win an adventure break on the estate.

Stackpole visitor experience and communities officer, Gill Wilkinson, said: "It was a lovely day at Broadhaven and the Trust was pleased to welcome everyone to a real summer party. Stackpole staff and volunteers were delighted to receive the Cardiff visitors and help everyone make the most of the beautiful weather that day on the beach."

A Mosaic group from Cardiff, who work with black, ethnic minority and disadvantaged groups, joined the get-together after a walk along the Bosherston lily ponds, which was led by volunteer wildlife experts, Jim and Marilyn Bebbington.

Bhunesh Napal, the Mosaic group co-ordinator, added: "We would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Stackpole so much for their kind hospitality. The group found everyone to be helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed the day immensely, and loved the beautiful scenery, especially the walk by the ponds."

Impromptu music from a couple of guitars and singing from the children of Cardiff group added to the party atmosphere. The day was complemented by a beach barbeque and ice creams supplied by the Trust catering staff.

The day was just a part of a series of 2012 events provided by the Trust staff at Stackpole.
