Antiques experts that set off around Pembrokeshire for a BBC show where they search for treasures and compete to make the most money at auction, posted a sizeable profit on a recent trip filming in Tenby and Narberth.
Izzie Balmer and Tim Medhurst concluded their epic road trip around Wales by taking their classic car to Pembrokeshire as part of the ‘Antiques Road Trip’ programme, which is now available to view on BBC iPlayer.
First stop for the duo scouring antiques shops for items that will sell for a profit when they go under the gavel, was Narberth - with Izzie heading to the Bazaar Antiques Warehouse situated at The Old Brewery in Spring Gardens; whilst Tim visited the Malthouse Antiques Centre located on Back Lane behind High Street.
Next stop for Tim was a trip to Tenby and the Antiques @The Green shop owned by Jason Sallam which specialises in jewellery, medals, coins, and silver collectables.
There was much excitement when the show’s vintage yellow 1960s Fiat 500 nicknamed ‘Bumblebee’ was spotted driving down St John’s Hill and parking outside the premises along The Green followed by a film crew - and even more excitement for expert Tim as he came away with a handful of medieval coins, as well as a timeless arts and crafts wooden letterbox.
As always, the experts find the time to step away from the antiques shops to delve into some local culture, with Izzie trying some laver bread made from seaweed foraged from Broad Haven beach by Jon Williams founder of Pembrokeshire Beach Food Company and cooked in his mobile Café Môr.
Then it was down to brass tacks - the final ‘make or break’ online auction showdown, to find out who will be crowned the winner of the road trip?
Without spoiling the outcome, it’s fair to say there’s a big surprise in store for one expert - with one item purchased delivering quite a profit! (all in aid of Children in Need).
