Over a dozen pieces of artwork have brightened up a seaside street scene in Saundersfoot.
Several artists from around the village have contributed to producing a wealth of colourful creations on hoardings along Cambrian Terrace to screen construction work on the new Ocean Square retail development.
Little and Large Bites cafe owner Debbie Ludlow, sparked off the idea after coming up with a popular giant rainbow as a tribute to the NHS outside her home during lockdown, with other locals getting on board with the idea to create the murals paying tribute to some of the village’s coal-mining history, as well as sporting occasions such as the climb on Heartbreak Hill for Ironman Wales.
“People in the village have been able to watch the artwork happening over the weeks, and everyone is just amazed at the end result. The feedback has been brilliant, and now the visitors are here, they’re saying how wonderful it is as well,” said Debbie.
Artists contributing to the project have included - Simon Rowlands, Julie Davies, Sarah Parker, Andrew Phillips, Ceri Williams, Lyn and Keith Sandall, Lynn Knibb, Jo Pullen and Michael Boddington
The project was carried out with the co-operation of building contractors W.B. Griffiths; Saundersfoot Harbour; and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.
