A Pembroke School pupil, studying art GCSE, is about to see some of his work displayed at an exhibition at Milford Haven's Torch Theatre.

Alex Fox Robinson was named winner of a high profile competition entitled 'Create - Art for Autism' last year, and now sees his work displayed in his exhibition 'Starting Out' which will run at the Torch Theatre from April 24 to May 26.

Organised by Beechwood College in Cardiff, the 'Create - Art for Autism' competition is open to all young people aged 11-25 years who are formally diagnosed with an Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), including Asperger's Syndrome, and aims to dispel the myth that people with autism cannot be creative and to show that art can significantly improve their quality of life, facilitating experiential-based learning and instilling life-long skills.

In its second year, the competition, which was launched this year at the Houses of Parliament, has attracted high profile judges, including Jane Asher, British actress, Gaby Roslin, television presenter, and Mark Lever, chief executive of the National Autistic Society.

The judging panel also included Alun Cairns MP, Michael Shaw, Times Educational Supplement, Darren Jackson, principal of Ludlow Orbis Education, Lucinda Bredin, editor of Bonhams Magazine, Hugh Morgan, chief executive of Autism Cymru and Brendan Burns, twice winner of the National Eisteddfod Gold Medal in Fine Art and lecturer at the University of Glamorgan.

As the winner of last year's competition, Alex attended the launch of this year's at the Houses of Parliament, where he enjoyed a tour with MP Stephen Crabb and had a reception in the House of Commons, where Jane Asher, president of the NAS spoke.

Alex was approached by many admiring his work and now looks forward to the opening of his gallery as well as the launch of his new website which is going live any day now at http://www.alexfoxrobinson.co.uk">www.alexfoxrobinson.co.uk
