Pembroke Rotary Club was delighted to play host to the Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra at Folly Farm on Saturday, February 23. This successful concert was kindly sponsored by Valero. It was pleasing to have in attendance Mr. Ed Tomp, vice-president and general manager of Pembroke Refinery, together with his family.
Folly Farm kindly donated the venue and all proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to Wales Air Ambulance, Friends of South Pembs. Hospital and local Rotary charities.
The orchestra was conducted by Michael Bell as they played an evening of classics by two of the best loved composers, Dvorak and Sibelius.
During the first half, the audience were captivated by the performance of young cellist Steffan Morris, who performed Dvorak's Cello Concerto. Neath born Steffan won the 'Texaco Young Musician of the Year' in 2009 and his appearance was made possible with the support from Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mathias.
