A Pembroke Dock businessman has lost his appeal to the planning inspectorate for an all-day diner in Pembroke Dock.
Gareth Williams, of Llanion Lodge, London Road, was appealing against a decision by Pembrokeshire County Council to refuse planning permission 12 months ago for a proposed change of use of a bed and breakfast guest house dining room to 'an all-day diner open to the public'.
Giving his decision, the inspector said that Mr. Williams had failed to establish a need for the proposal as several cafes were already operating in the centre of Pembroke Dock.
The diner, he added, would also have a detrimental impact on those town centre businesses.
Mr. Williams also lost an appeal against an enforcement notice issued by the council against him earlier this year.
The notice alleged a breach of planning control insomuch as a material change of use of Llanion Lodge had taken place without planning permission from a bed and breakfast accommodation to a bed and breakfast accommodation and café.
