A 54-year-old Dutch man, holidaying in Tenby, was airlifted to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, after sustaining a fractured ankle while fishing from rocks at Manorbier Beach.
A group of male friends were angling from rocks on the east side of Manorbier Beach when the incident occurred shortly before 2 pm on Saturday.
A local Tenby resident was amongst the group and he contacted the coastguard on the 999 system.
Tenby and Manorbier Coastguard Rescue Teams were tasked to assist and the rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor, exercising with the St. David's Lifeboat, was diverted to the scene.
After the casualty was stabilised on-scene, Rescue 169 winched the man into the helicopter and he was conveyed to hospital.
