Volunteering is one of the most valuable and rewarding things someone can do in their spare time and with so many different volunteering roles available, there’s never been more ways to give back to your local community.

St John Cymru, Wales’ leading first aid charity, is appealing for volunteers across our region to help support their lifesaving work.

When you think of St John Cymru many people think ‘first aid’, but it’s not just first aid volunteers who help towards St John Cymru’s lifesaving work.

A whole host of amazing volunteers who are made up of everything from fundraisers, public relaters, financers and safeguarding officers to treasurers, youth leaders and more provide vital support to the charity.

The charity is looking for passionate, pro-active and friendly people across Dyfed to join them in achieving their mission of a first aider in every home in Wales.

Richard Collyer, acting deputy commissioner for St John Cymru in Dyfed, said: “Our volunteers are integral to helping us provide lifesaving first aid and medical cover at events, not just within Dyfed, but in communities across Wales.

“We offer endless opportunities for people to get involved. By volunteering with St John Cymru you’ll be joining so many other like-minded people determined to make a difference in their local community while gaining a whole host of benefits including learning new skills and developing others while improving your confidence and making lasting friendships,” he added.

St John Cymru first aid volunteers attend some of the biggest events in Wales, Long Course Weekend and Big Tribute Festival in Aberystwyth are just a few supported by volunteers across Dyfed.

Richard said: “We rely heavily upon volunteers across different backgrounds and skill sets to help us to continue to develop, understand and most importantly to be there for people when they need us most.

“By sparing just a few hours of your time, you can help us towards making a real difference in local communities,” he added.

Just some of the opportunities available in the area include: fundraising officer; HR officer; public relations officer; first aid volunteers (training provided); divisional officer in charge (four locations)
