Tenby’s inshore lifeboat was launched at around 1.15 pm on Tuesday (August 11), after RNLI beach lifeguards requested assistance when several swimmers were in danger of being caught in a rip off Tenby’s Castle Beach.

The volunteer crew were quickly on scene and stood by as the swimmers made their way ashore, assisted by the lifeguards.

As the first shout was coming to an end, the lifeboat crew were requested to make their way to South Beach, to assist with casualty care and the setting up of a helicopter landing site, after a swimmer had suffered a fit on the beach after banging his head whilst in the water.

The lifeboat was at South beach in under a minute and a crew member was put ashore to assist the RNLI lifeguards and Coastguard Team with the casualty until the Air Ambulance and land ambulances arrived to take over.

With their job done, the crew were stood down and returned to station, arriving at 2.50 pm.
