Today, in the seaside town of Tenby, the hunt for yellow wellington boots is on! Will you answer the Mayday call and help save lives at sea?
Every year, in May, the RNLI launches its Mayday Campaign, the aim of which is to raise funds to enable RNLI crews around Britain to answer the many Mayday calls that come in .
These funds are used to train crews, to kit them out, and to keep our lifeboats and crews ready and able to save lives. Supporters from all over the country have signed up to run a Mayday mile a day throughout the month, but there are many other ways to help this campaign.
The Tenby fund-raising committee with the help of local shops, is organising a Yellow Welly Hunt from today, Wednesday, May 24 to Wednesday, May 31.
A yellow RNLI welly boot will be hidden in each of the windows of 20 shops in Tenby. Each one will have a different number, and participants will be able to buy a Welly Hunt quiz sheet from the RNLI Boat House, Castle Hill, the De Valence Pavilion or Morris Brothers shop in Tenby High Street. These sheets will give all the clues needed to find the Wellies, and, on completion, should be taken back to the Boat House.
Every entrant will receive a yellow welly pin badge, the symbol of the Mayday campaign Prize-winners will be notified on June 1. Thanks go to all the shop owners who so willingly agreed to take part.
