Dyfed-Powys Police have thanked the public for their help in tracing murder suspect Steve Baxter who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday (October 27) in Carmarthenshire, and is currently in police custody.

Fifty-year-old Baxter has been wanted by police in connection with the death of Simon Clark who was found at Grove Caravan Park in Pendine on Friday, September 28.

Police responded to a report from a member of the public of a possible sighting of Baxter on the afternoon of Saturday, October 27.

Plain-clothed officers, who were already in the area conducting enquiries, attended at a location between Marros Sands and Pendine where he was arrested.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Jones who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to thank the public for their support in helping us trace Baxter.

“I am very thankful to the member of the public who called police with this sighting after being aware of our wanted appeal.

“Officers were already in the area conducting enquiries and thanks to the quick-thinking of this member of the public, were able to swiftly get to the location, search the area and make the arrest.”

“I am pleased he is now in police custody, bringing the search to a conclusion.

“Our thoughts and sympathy remain with Simon Clark’s family.”

Four people have already been charged with offences in connection with the murder and are currently on remand.

Jeffrey Stephen Ward, aged 40, from Pendine, has been charged with murder.

Linda Mary Rowley, aged 52, from Pendine, has been charged with assisting an offender. (murder)

Kirston Macklin, a 52-year-old man, from Newport, Gwent, has been charged with assisting an offender. (murder)

Julie Louise Harris, aged 46, from Tonypandy, has been charged with assisting an offender. (murder)
