Police officers made two arrests in relation to Operation Lion on Saturday night in Tenby - one male for being drunk and disorderly, and a female for a public order offence.
Dyfed-Powys Police is working with British Transport Police and Arriva Trains Wales to help police Tenby over the busy summer period, as part of Operation Lion which will run in the resort to August 28.
More police resources will be dedicated to the area to help cope with the increase of crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour the town experiences over the summer.
For the launch of the scheme on Saturday, areas around nightclubs were robustly policed, and an excellent working relationship between DPP and BTP saw Tenby railway station patrolled throughout the evening.
Police officers from both forces will be on the trains and the platform on weekends, to help deal with the large numbers of people who use the service.
On Sunday, a sea fishing event held in town was policed and a spontaneous road closure was implemented to prevent harm.
One man was dealt with for being drunk, and cooperated with officers who took him home.
Police officers received many positive comments from members of the public about the high visibility presence in Tenby over the first Op Lion weekend.
Stag and hen parties heading to the resort can also expect a clampdown on ‘lewd’ and ‘crude’ costumes and accessories.
Speaking on a BBC Wales radio show, Sergeant Steve Dawkins from the British Transport Police said that bad behaviour will not be tolerated, but would not elaborate on exactly what such ‘memorabilia’ might feature on the banned list.
“Some of the hen and stag nights have certain memorabilia with them that doesn’t want to be seen by young families with children,” he commented.
“We want to nip this in the bud because we tolerate any of this behaviour.
“It is a high visibility presence, walking through the train and making sure the families feel safe and any lewdness or crudeness is stamped out at the earliest opportunity,” added Sergeant Dawkins.
