A Manorbier man has been given a lengthy motoring ban after admitting a series of offences in court, including driving a van whilst exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit.
Forty-seven-year-old Stephen Andrew Rochester, of Dewing Avenue, appeared from custody at Haverfordwest magistrates court last week to plead guilty to driving a VW Caddy over the limit.
The defendant was found to have 58 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the court heard, after he was arrested on October 26 in Pembroke Dock when police officers pulled his vehicle over whilst carrying out routine checks, and conducted a roadside breath test after they smelt alcohol on Mr. Rochester’s breath.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told magistrates that there was no evidence of bad driving when Mr. Rochester was stopped by officers, but checks revealed he was driving the vehicle without a valid licence or insurance.
Mr. Rochester admitted these further charges and also failing to surrender to court on November 12.
Magistrates handed him a 16 month driving disqualification and fined him a total of £538 for the offences.
The defendant was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge.
