Angle RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was launched on Tuesday evening (May 2) to provide safety cover to a member of the public, who had climbed down rocks to rescue a stranded bullock to the south of West Angle Bay.

The D class lifeboat, SuperG II, was launched at 7.44 pm and reached the scene in seven minutes. Two crew members went ashore to assess the options of evacuation, while the lifeboat transferred the now stranded member of the public to West Angle beach.

As the lifeboat was returning, the local farmer was on the shoreline offering assistance so he was transferred to the scene. After numerous attempts, the bullock was eventually secured and towed to West Angle beach, where it was placed in a field.

With no more assistance required, the lifeboat was released and returned to her station, where she was rehoused at 9.35 pm.
