Twenty-eight-year-old A female motorist caught driving the wrong way down a Tenby street has been banned from getting behind the wheel of her vehicle for three years, after admitting drink driving.

Twenty-eight-year-old Natalie Dos Santos, of Bridgend, pleaded guilty to driving her Peugeot 206, on Lower Frog Street, after exceeding the prescribed limit of alcohol, when she appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told magistrates that police officers became aware of the defendant’s vehicle being driven the wrong way down the street shortly before 11.30 pm on Sunday, August 28.

“Other cars were flashing their lights at Ms Dos Santos, and when police stopped her, they could smell intoxicants on her breath,” explained Ms Vaughan.

At the police station, Ms Dos Santos gave a reading of 90 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Defence solicitor Katy Hanson told magistrates that her client fully co-operated with police officers and deeply regretted her actions on that night.

“She had been seeing a friend as she regularly comes down to Tenby, but they argued and she decided to come back into town.

“Ms Dos Santos had been in trouble for a similar matter in 2013, and at that time her life was out of control, but she has worked hard to put it on order.

“She is a self-employed mobile hairdresser and also works as a physio for a local rugby team, so this will impact on her,” added Ms Hanson.

Magistrates disqualified for Ms Dos Santos from driving for 36 months and also gave her a 12-month community order, with 80 hours of unpaid work and a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

She was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and an £85 victim surcharge.
