Wild Swim Wales has urged visitors to “leave no trace” after discovering the fire damaged remains of a disposable barbecue and drinks cans on a Pembrokeshire beach.

“The people who enjoyed a lovely BBQ on a stunning beach here in Pembrokeshire then sat around a fire with no doubt a gorgeous sunset, probably left the beach feeling pretty good,” posted swimming instructor Sue Christopher.

But the burnt and buried remains “probably stayed hot enough to burn a dog, child or barefoot person even the following morning and if they didn’t get burned, the broken wire would have caused a nasty injury.

“A reusable BBQ and a small trug to pour water over it afterwards would have been a much better choice.”
