Coastguard teams were tasked to to assist RNLI lifeguards at Coppet Hall beach in Saundersfoot on Thursday (July 15) with a casualty who had fallen.
At approximately 3.15 pm, Tenby’s coastguard rescue team along with HM Coastguard St Govans were paged to the incident, with RNLI lifeguards who were already on the scene with the casualty, commencing first aid treatment when the coastguard teams arrived.
The coastguard officers assisted the lifeguards until Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust paramedics arrived.
Due to the nature of the casualty’s injuries it was decided to request assistance from Coastguard rescue helicopter 187 to assist paramedics and airlift the casualty to hospital.
Once the casualty was stabilised, it was decided to winch the casualty into the helicopter, who was then flown to Cardiff Hospital for further treatment.
