A sixty four-year-old man from Pembroke Dock has been fined in court after admitting cannabis possession.

Richard Day of The Gables, Queen Street, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to a charge of possessing 0.3 grans of herbal cannabis.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that police were speaking to Mr. Day at his property on February 8, on an unrelated matter, when they could smell cannabis.

“Officers conducted a brief search and found a grinder. Mr. Day told officers that he smoked cannabis as he suffered from chronic pain and that his pain tended to go if he had a ‘few puffs’ of the drug,” he said.

Magistrates fined Mr. Day £80 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.

They also ordered a destruction order for the drugs and paraphernalia.
